Indovina Bank Ltd. (IVB) is Vietnam's first joint venture bank and was established on 21 November 1990, under License No. 135/GP initially granted by the State Committee for Cooperation and Investment, and then reissued under License No. 08/NHGP dated 29 October 1992, by the State Bank of Vietnam. alt

The joint venture partners are The Vietnam Bank for Industry and Trade (VietinBank)and Cathay United Bank (CUB) in Taiwan. Indovina Bank with the Head Office in Ho Chi Minh City and branches in Hanoi, HaiPhong, Danang, CanTho, Binhduong and Dongnai has become one of the foremost financial links for foreign companies investing and doing business in Vietnam. IVB also participates actively in the economic development of Vietnam by providing credit facilities to both state owned and private enterprises in their trading and manufacturing activities.

Cathay United Bank (CUB), headquartered in Taipei, Taiwan is a wholly owned subsidiary of Cathay Financial Holding Company, the largest Financial Holding Company in Taiwan with total assets of USD 105.78 Billion (as of 31 December 2006). Subsidiaries of Cathay Financial Holding include Cathay Life Insurance, Cathay United Bank, Cathay Century Insurance, Cathay Securities, Cathay Pacific Venture Capital, Cathay Venture Capital, Cathay II Venture Capital, and Cathay Capital Management.
altCathay United Bank is one of the largest private banks in Taiwan, especially in settlement of funds for Taiwan Stock Exchange, Taiwan OTC center, Taiwan Future Exchange Corporation and Central Bank's Trading Settlement system. As of 31 December 2006, its total assets and capital were USD 36 billion and USD 2.2 billion respectively.
Cathay United Bank consists of 143 domestic departments and branches, 10 overseas offices and more than 169 transaction offices inside Securities Houses. The Vietnam Bank for Industry and Trade (VietinBank), established in 1988, is one of the five largest State-owned commercial Banks in Vietnam. At the end of 2005, its total assets reached VND 118,400 billion; total loans amounted to nearly VND 77,000 billion, accounting for over 21% of credit market of the whole banking system. VietinBank with Headquarters in Hanoi provide a wide range of Banking services for all types of customers through its large network of 2 main transaction Offices in Hanoi and HochiMinh city, 134 branches, 150 transaction offices, 425 saving counters and 775 correspondent Banks in more than 50 countries.

VietinBank is also an official member of: Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT), Asian Bankers’ Association, Master, Visa International Service Association, and Vietnam Bankers’ Association etc. In 2005, under the Govement’s assignation, VietinBank was the only commercial bank in Vietnam to join in the “APEC Financial Institutions dealing with Small and Medium-sized Enterprises.
